Market Research Company ABI Research data show
that the after market total sales of the global smart phone accessories is about
36 billion USD. iPhone accessories take up 20% of the market which is about 7
billion USD. Most of the money was spent in wholesaling iPhone cases.
ABI analyst Michael Morgan said, although most
other intelligent mobile manufacturers rely on standard interface technology of
micro USB and others which do not need to pay the authorized fee. Apple has been
developing its special connecting line. And they want to charge licensing fees
to the manufacturers who hope to put made for iPhone marker in the iPhone 5 accessories.
Because the profit of selling iPhone and other
electronic equipment is poor, electronic products distributor maintains the
business operation through selling iPhone accessories. Retail software company
iQmetrix's executive customer manager Stacy Hamer said. Mobile phone retailers'
profit margin usually reaches as high as 80% of Apple accessories. IQmetrix
specifically provide services for mobile phone retailers.
Referring to the new iPhone interface, Hamer
said that mobile phone retailers face a great business opportunity of increasing
attachment placement rate. Everyone will repurchase the things which they have
used to use.
And those companies which try to let iPhone
connect with their products more conveniently also create a market for iPhone
adapter.
Icon Health & Fitness Inc., the parent
company of FreeMotion Fitness, Pro - Form, NordicTrack, and other fitness
equipment brand is still in the assessment how to adapt to the new iPhone charge
interface.
Company spokesman Colleen Logan said. There are
10% fitness equipments' charge base produced by the company is designed
according to existing models of iPhone and iPod. She said that the company is
considering how to equip charging base for their equipment.
